Evangelical Outreach in Oaxaca: A Call Beyond Careers to Kingdom Purpose

In a heartening display of faith and outreach, the Emanuel Church from Mexico City, in collaboration with Saint Luke Society (SLS) in the Central America and Caribbean region, made a significant impact at the Universidad Autónoma Benito Juárez Oaxaca (UABJO) this past week. Their mission? To inspire university students not just to pursue careers but to seek a deeper understanding of their identity in Christ and discern God's calling on their lives.

The evangelism event, themed "Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you" (Matthew 6:33), resonated with the spiritual hunger evident among the students. The gathering began with an engaging session where students introduced themselves and shared the careers they are pursuing. This set the stage for a deeper exploration into the importance of identity in Christ before career ambitions.

The team from Emanuel Church shared powerful messages that challenged the students to rethink their life's direction. The emphasis was not on abandoning professional aspirations but on aligning them with a Kingdom perspective - understanding that one's true identity and purpose are found in Christ before any career choice.

One young participant reflected on the message's impact, saying, "I asked myself many times how to serve God through my career, and today I understood that if I clearly define my identity, I can serve God's work." This statement encapsulates the transformative realization that vocational success and spiritual fulfillment are not mutually exclusive but are interconnected when one's life is centered in Christ.

The response to the call for deeper engagement through Bible study was encouraging, with several students expressing interest in exploring their faith further. The leaders have committed to follow up, demonstrating the vital importance of ongoing discipleship and support in nurturing young believers' faith.

The mission of World Olivet Assembly and its members is deeply rooted in a Kingdom-focused vision that earnestly seeks to empower the youth, guiding them to direct their lives with an unwavering focus on God's Kingdom. Understanding the pivotal role that young adults play in the fabric of our society and the future of the church, WOA is committed to nurturing a generation that glorifies God through their gifts and professions. This commitment is manifested in initiatives like the one in Oaxaca, which not only aim to evangelize but also to equip students with the spiritual tools they need to integrate their faith into every aspect of their lives, including their professional pursuits.
